Other Notes

~  The camp location address is 2830 Coppock Rd, Washington, IA 52353

~  Arrival time/check in is no earlier than 4:00, and is at the Retreat Lodge for everyone.  Parents should be aware that counselors may not be to cabins before 4:30 due to their 3:00 meeting (which is also at the Lodge and is the one exception for coming early).  Washington has fun shops on the square, and Sunset Park has two nice playground areas if you arrive in the area early. It will take about 10-12 minutes to travel from Washington to the Retreat Lodge. No one needs to check in at the Camp Office.

~  Remember to bring the usual – Bible, Psalter, notebook, flashlight, and bedding if you’re not staying in the Lodge or Shepherd’s Inn.  You will be notified if you are not staying in the place requested when you registered.

~  When choosing your clothing, remember the camp may have very warm weather (we usually eat outside) and cool air conditioning during the talks/discussions. In the evenings, a light jacket may be appreciated by 8:00.

~  Iowa has sun – consider bringing sunscreen, sunglasses, maybe a hat if you like that.

~  Iowa has bugs – bring your favorite repellant, or sit by someone the bugs like better.  One type of bug in Iowa is a tick which you will want to check for after you have been hiking in the woods or in tall grass.  They won’t be a problem in cabins/rooms/lawn type areas. (This is nothing new, and I don’t think there will be any special problem with them)

~  To fully enjoy camp, get to meet as many new people as possible, renew old friendships, enjoy God’s creation, listen well to talks, and many other benefits, we encourage you to forego your screens as much as possible. Some cabin groups and other people are going to try to ‘give up’ their phones for the week.  In order to reach that goal, you may want to bring a watch (yep, they still sell those), and possibly an alarm clock (provided in rooms in the Retreat Lodge and Shepherd’s Inn).

~  When choosing what to bring for your feet, remember that if we are able to go canoeing, or use the waterslide, you will need water shoes or old shoes – not just flip flops. If you are going to take advantage of the Activity Center, including the climbing wall, you need clean, non-marking shoes. If you are staying in the cabin/pavilion area, you may want flip-flops for the showers.

~  All of your camp costs are included in the registration, there should be no additional cost to you.
